Changing title because this is the 5th thing to come up when you search for the Engagements and there's a real chance Mr. Finnemore has seen this. Ooh er ...
Hello there! I thought I might as well make a journal out of the mess of a review I made of John Finnemore's thing because it was brilliant and he's lovely and every thing is John Finnemore right now. I'm listening to Douz. The Cabin Pressure episode. "Yeah, that might just work ..."-"What might?"-"... I don't know ... I just like talking like this ..."
Anyway! Kilburn! We only got a bit lost on the way up around Stonebridge Park, but had an hour to spare.
We went in, waited for a bit, and then John, Simon, Carrie and Lawry came onto the little stage thing at the front. John did the Pastygate story from the Now Show! It was brilliant! I won't give anything away, but some sketches to look out for are Whale Counting, Depression, the French Accountant one, the Teachers one, the Russian Customs one, the one about that famous Radio 4 show ... Not naming names of course, but the word 'continuity' will probably feature in the description, and the not-so horror story at the end! It really was brilliant live, and you should definitely go if you get the chance!!
After it finished, I thought they'd all left(since Lawry had), but I went to go investigate anyway, and found John! His first impression of me was probably something along the lines of "Who is this girl and why can't she find a button on a phone", since I was taking Helen's picture with him. Er
I found it eventually
Anyway, I met John Finnemore! The first thing I did was apologise for the trainwreck of an email I sent him about the last JFPE, but apparently he didn't see it, which was lucky! Although he did have a little glint in his eye when he said he might look for it
Er, I got him to sign my sketchbook, and I know Liv has seen this before, but the conversation basically went like this;
Me: Er, the only book I could find was my sketchbook.
John: Oooh, can I have a look?
Me: Oh, um, really? I suppose
John: I've made it too formal now, haven't I?
Me: No! Er, there's this
*flicks through book and shows him a picture of some birds*
John: Oh, that's lovely. *flicks to the page before* A lion!
Me: Yeah, it's not that good
John: Really? I think it's brilliant! (He sounded exactly like Arthur Shappey)
Me: What, really?
John: Yes! Very majestic.
Me: I thought it looked a little too windswept, so I, uh
*points at other page*
John: (He started laughing at this point) Put a hairdryer against it? *loud laughter* Wonderful!
I made John Finnemore laugh. John Finnemore. The comedian. Laugh. Also sjkhsdj he liked my art.
He started talking to somebody else at this point, so I started talking to Simon Kane and Carrie Quinlan, who are both absolutely wonderful people. I would have asked them for photots, but they seemed pretty comfortable on the sofa!(Though they both stood up after about ten minutes.) I think I was one of the first to ask for their autographs, because they were both asking each other what to write! Which was really nice, I think (I think) Simon's says; "Hello, this my autograph, I do John's show - Simon Kane". I THINK. (Simon Kane how do you handwriting) We'd been talking for a while about coming up quite a way, what we'd been listening to(Carrie likes Frank Turner! That in itself would have made my day.)and how my sister does English like John and Simon did(Though she goes to a different Uni, still in Cambridge though), and how I'm apparently a "Beeb Groupie", according to Simon(Somehow it got to The Magic Roundabout, but I don't know how). John was talking to my Mum and Sister at this point, and my Mum pulled me into their conversation, and then John started talking about how far we'd come(It wasn't that far), and we ended up talking to them for nearly three quarters of an hour! They're lovely lovely people. And John had a Two Ronnies shirt on! (Four candles/fork handles.)
We left shortly after that, but it really was great! Waffle, waffle, waffle.
